The buzz in the United Arab Emirates the last few months has been a new newspaper to be launched in Abdu Dhabi.
The paper is owned by Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and one of the sons of the emirate’s ruler and President of the UAE. Money is therefore no object, a luxury very few newspapers in the world can afford.
The English-language paper has already started recruiting top talent from the UK, Canada and elsewhere.
No launch date has been set, but industry sources say it will be a broadsheet to be printed partly on glossy newsprint just like the other papers in the UAE.
The paper will be published from Abu Dhabi and distributed throughout the UAE which already has Gulf News, Khaleej Times, Gulf Today, Emirates Today and a several other smaller ones.
